Welcome back to another exciting crochet adventure!
You have heard of Camel stitch, right? Not yet? But I am sure you heard about working on the 3rd loop so a half double crochet.
Half double crochet stitches are not as tall as double crochet stitches. The dc stitches are faster to crochet. So, I decided to experiment with that. Yes, there is a 3rd loop on the double crochet!!!
I tried it, and it worked! The modification made a stretchier headband.
So, do you want to try it? I made a step-by-step video tutorial for you guys. Even if you are a beginner crocheter, you will find it easy to follow. Any questions? Ask me here or on the channel.
Here is the video for you!
Are you going to try it using variegated yarn? Did I mention that you can even create a cowl or blanket with this pattern?
Feather stitch is very squishy and stretchy. It creates a reversible fabric.
I used variegated yarn and pale yellow to create stripes with this stitch.
The two different colours create a pattern, like colours dripping into the rows.
I started with a foundation chain of multiples of 2+1. Some people use foundation hdc.
I am changing the colours every two rows. It helped me to carry the yarn on one side and use it at the beginning of the third row. That is helpful if you don't like to weave in a lot of yarn tails.
The edging is optional for this boho ear warmer. I showed it anyway.
The variegated yarn is Red Heart Economy yarn. If you wish to buy the same yarn, it is available here. The colours are very eye-catching.

If you are looking for a crochet project that looks high-end but is simple enough for a relaxing evening, thisSedge Stitch Infinity Headbandis the perfect choice. This project is all about texture—using a variation of the classic sedge stitch to create a thick, reversible fabric that is both warm and stylish.
In my latest video tutorial, I walk you through every step of this "cozy boho" accessory. Whether you call it a headband or an ear warmer, this is a "quick win" project that helps you master a beautiful new stitch while creating something wearable in under an hour.
The sedge stitch is a favourite for beginners because it uses basic stitches—single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet—all worked into the same space. This creates a dense, "scalloped" look that is identical on both sides. In this tutorial, I used a foundation chain multiple of3 + 2(I started with 54+2 chains) to get the perfect width for a winter-ready ear warmer.

The Custom "Boho" Twist
What sets this headband apart is the finishing. I decided to give this piece a "twist" before seaming the ends together. This creates that popularInfinity Twistlook that sits perfectly on the forehead.
To take it a step further, I added a custompicot-style edgingalong the foundation chain. By using a simple(sc, ch 4, slip stitch)repeat, you get a delicate, ruffled detail that gives the headband a boutique, "Boho" feel.

Life has a way of moving along steadily until a sudden shift brings everything into focus. For me, that shift happened when I realized my vision wasn't quite right. A visit to the optometrist confirmed the cause: cataracts in both eyes.
The left eye was significantly worse, requiring surgery much sooner than the right. Navigating the healthcare system in Ontario can be daunting, with wait times for hospital surgeries often stretching up to a year. While OHIP covers the procedure itself, patients still pay for the lenses. To expedite the process, I chose to have the surgery at a private clinic. Since I am perfectly comfortable wearing glasses, I opted for the standard lens.
The experience was surprisingly seamless. Within just one month of my consultation, the surgery was complete. To my relief, the procedure was easy and entirely painless, and the recovery process has been very manageable.
Now, I am in the healing phase. I must wait one month before returning to my optometrist for a fresh eye exam and a new prescription. Currently, I am still using my old glasses, which feels a bit off since the power is no longer correct for my treated eye, but it is a temporary hurdle. As for my right eye, the plan is to monitor the cataract and likely proceed with surgery next year once it has matured.
Regaining clear vision in even one eye has been a wonderful reminder not to take our health for granted. Clearer days are definitely ahead!
If you are looking for a project that combinesluxury texturewith a truly simple technique, theSlanted Shell Stitch Boho Headbandis for you. This pattern is quickly becoming one of my favorites on theCrochetsmashchannel because it is an effortless1-row repeatthat results in a professional, boutique-style accessory.
The Magic of the Slanted Shell
The slanted shell stitch creates a unique, diagonal texture that catches the light beautifully. Despite its intricate appearance, the pattern is incredibly "mindless" once you get the first row established. This makes it the perfect companion for a quiet evening of "crochet and chill" while catching up on your favorite shows.
Pattern Specifics:
Foundation Chain:For this project, we are working with a multiple of5+2. This foundation ensures that your shells sit perfectly across the width of the headband.
The Stitch:The core of the pattern involves working a combination of double crochets and chains into a single base stitch to create that signature "slant."
Versatility:While this post focuses on a headband, this stitch isblanket and scarf friendly. You can easily scale this up for a cozy throw or a dramatic winter wrap.
Why Every Beginner Should Try This
Many beginners are intimidated by shell stitches, but the slanted variation is actually more forgiving. It’s a great way to practice placing multiple stitches into one space and understanding how "skip" stitches create drape and airiness.

If you’ve mastered the foundation of crochet, you know that the journey usually begins with the humble single and double crochet. These are the building blocks of every project, but the real magic happens when you start playing withdimension and texture. Moving beyond flat stitches allows you to create cozy, high-end accessories that look far more complex than they actually are.
The secret to professional-looking texture often lies in where you place your hook. Instead of working into the top loops, tryPost Stitches. By usingFront Post Double Crochets (FPDC)andBack Post Double Crochets (BPDC), you can create raised ridges and deep valleys in your fabric. This interplay of light and shadow is what gives pieces like my latest Boho Cowl their signature "expensive" look.
In my latest tutorial, I demonstrate how a simple 2-row repeat using these techniques can transform a basic project into a statement piece. We also explore thePuff Stitch, which adds a delightful "pop" of volume, perfect for decorative edgings. Experimenting with these textures is a fantastic way to keep your craft exciting while building your skills. Check out the full video below to see these stitches in action!

One day, we feel like winter is gone, and the next day, it's snowing and brutally cold.
Now the last week of April, we are seeing showers and milder days.
Still, I am not comfortable starting the gardening.
Last week, I got the cataract removed from my left eye. The right eye has it too, but it is not big enough to be removed.
Now the problem is that the old glasses are troubling me. The specialist advised getting new glasses. It is already bothering, and I booked an appointment with an optometrist. The latest appointment they gave me is next week. Then it may take another 15 days to get the glasses.
Upgrade your accessory game with this stunning textured headband! This project is part of my newSpring Garden Collectionand features a sophisticated look that is surprisingly easy to achieve. Using a simple 2-row repeat, this pattern creates a high-end, "expensive" texture that is perfect for gifts or your own wardrobe.
Stay tuned, because I’ll also be showing you how to adapt this exact pattern into a cozy beanie and a funky cowl with a decorative edging!

Pattern Details:
Skill Level:Easy/Intermediate
Technique:2-Row Repeat (Front Post & Back Post Double Crochets)
I was thinking of making a beanie! It was headbands for some time. The pattern is made with double crochets and single crochets. However, the result is a very textured and interesting triangle design. This airy pattern can be made using different colours to create stripes too.
It took me a while to come up with the stitch count for the design. This is a free gift for those love to create textured beanies for the next Christmas markets.
I know, it is the beginning of spring.
But in Toronto, we are expecting more snow this week. Perhaps you would really like a warmer beanie! What is your preference for now?

C2C looks complicated. With my video, you will learn effectively and have a product to showcase what you've learned as well
.
I used medium-weight yarn and an appropriate hook to make it. if you need more help, add to comment section of blog or the video.
Another headband. Before you say something, let me tell you this: Headbands don't need much time and yarn to finish. It is an easy one to give as a gift.
I am not selling my finished products anymore, you might noticed.
This one is even easier, because it is a two-row repeat. I made it in widthwise.
I didn't want to worry about a perfect fit for the head. That's why it has ties in the back. So it is one size fits most!!
This will help you to practice your bobble stitches. So, if you like to make an easy peasy headband for your next craft fair, here is your pattern

If there is one thing I hear from every crocheter, it's this:"I love making motifs, but I hate sewing them together."

I was digging through my yarn stash yesterday and realized I had so many small balls of yarn leftover from other projects. I didn't want to throw them away, so I decided to whip up someGranny Hearts!
I love the classic granny stitch, but I’ve always been bothered by how the edges turn out on standard heart patterns. So, I spent some time experimenting and came up with anew, neater wayto finish them off.
Check out the result:
These are so addictive to make. I made a whole batch in under an hour! They are perfect for:
Cute mugrugs for your coffee table.
Sewing onto a tote bag.
Making a quick Valentine's Day garland.

That heart uses a different pattern than the previous post. Look at the flower with a bead! Isn't it beautiful? Wish to make one? It is fully explained in the video!
