Easy crochet pattern for beginners

I posted one more pattern yesterday in my channel, Crochetsmash.

As you expected, it is a headband pattern.  

Interestingly, I used Caron Allday Cotton yarn for that. My usual is acrylic yarn. 

Now I love the feel of this cotton! I bought only 2 colours (from Amazon). It cost me $30. 

The colours really give the dark clouds and the orange rays of the sun. 

The stitches are basic ones. I made it lengthwise. 

When you are making headbands in lengthwise, it is hard to achieve the fit. So I decided to design ties for this one.

Creating a pattern for ties was intimidating. But, i did it.

Why I record my crochet?

Life is passing by.

Each day, I find something interesting to crochet. 

Mostly a new stitch to try. 

As you know, I make lots of headbands for my YouTube channel. 

My guilty pleasure! Actually, headbands are a quick way to try out stitches. 

Even with a new stitch pattern, I will finish one in an hour or two. 

The problem with that is I have no use for headbands. They are just decorative pieces I keep in my box. 

I need to organize them by writing the pattern or the title of YouTube video, so I can remember how I made one later on. 

The channel itself was started to help me not to reinvent the wheel 

You know, when playing with yarn, some interesting things will happen. The look or the texture...

Maybe working on a scarf, and I change the pattern or stitches suddenly, and it becomes more fun. 

Later, when I see the scarf in my stash of scarves, I am like, how was it made... I will not have a clue. 

By deliberately recording the process and pattern, I can go back to see how I made that.

No need to remember everything, which is impossible.

Sunshine beanie

I was thinking of making a beanie! It was headbands for some time.  The pattern is made with double crochets and single crochets. However, the result is a very textured and interesting triangle design. This airy pattern can be made using different colours to create stripes too. 

It took me a while to come up with the stitch count for the design. This is a free gift for those love to create textured beanies for the next Christmas markets. 

I know, it is the beginning of spring. 

But in Toronto, we are expecting more snow this week.  Perhaps you would really like a warmer beanie! What is your preference for now?
