Welcome back to another exciting crochet adventure!
You have heard of Camel stitch, right? Not yet? But I am sure you heard about working on the 3rd loop so a half double crochet.
Half double crochet stitches are not as tall as double crochet stitches. The dc stitches are faster to crochet. So, I decided to experiment with that. Yes, there is a 3rd loop on the double crochet!!!
I tried it, and it worked! The modification made a stretchier headband.
So, do you want to try it? I made a step-by-step video tutorial for you guys. Even if you are a beginner crocheter, you will find it easy to follow. Any questions? Ask me here or on the channel.
Here is the video for you!
Are you going to try it using variegated yarn? Did I mention that you can even create a cowl or blanket with this pattern?
If you are looking for a project that combinesluxury texturewith a truly simple technique, theSlanted Shell Stitch Boho Headbandis for you. This pattern is quickly becoming one of my favorites on theCrochetsmashchannel because it is an effortless1-row repeatthat results in a professional, boutique-style accessory.
The Magic of the Slanted Shell
The slanted shell stitch creates a unique, diagonal texture that catches the light beautifully. Despite its intricate appearance, the pattern is incredibly "mindless" once you get the first row established. This makes it the perfect companion for a quiet evening of "crochet and chill" while catching up on your favorite shows.
Pattern Specifics:
Foundation Chain:For this project, we are working with a multiple of5+2. This foundation ensures that your shells sit perfectly across the width of the headband.
The Stitch:The core of the pattern involves working a combination of double crochets and chains into a single base stitch to create that signature "slant."
Versatility:While this post focuses on a headband, this stitch isblanket and scarf friendly. You can easily scale this up for a cozy throw or a dramatic winter wrap.
Why Every Beginner Should Try This
Many beginners are intimidated by shell stitches, but the slanted variation is actually more forgiving. It’s a great way to practice placing multiple stitches into one space and understanding how "skip" stitches create drape and airiness.
