Blue and White

I bought some yarn from Amazon. 3 balls of  Redheart Supersaver white and 3 balls of Redheart soft turcoise. It costs around $45 including taxes. 

First, I made a granny square bag. The pattern and tutorial are from YouTube. Since I know how to make granny squares, I didn't follow instructions precisely as in the design. I mainly was interested in the assembly. 

There is no lining for this bag. 

 

I want to learn to add lining and zipper.  That will be for another day.

I was working on a cushion cover. I designed it myself.  The center is a granny square. Then two c2c squares in blue. To keep everything together, added granny stitches around it.

The back is made up of another granny square panel. 

There is one more cushion cover in the making, with the same colours in a different pattern. Turquoise yarn is softer than white.

March is ending. 

I am crocheting and embroidering. 

There is time now because I quit my job.

My main job now is to fight the phyllodes on my right side.

Hum...They are not that benign at the moment. 

But not yet dangerous either. 

I have to go through a mastectomy. 

Am I ever ready for that????

No. NEVER.

How am I thinking about it now?

There will be a recovery.

I will still be living to see the spring of 2023. 

I will keep loving the people around me. 

They will love me forever too.

The love will have wings and it will fly the world

Just like that!

Fun things

It is cold

Not really, because today was a warm day for December.  So we went out for a long walk. 

I went with my dear daughter to the craft store a couple of weeks before. We were thinking of making little DIY Christmas crafts. I bought a craft foam ring, a foam cone, ribbons and pom-poms. 

I wrapped the ring with ribbon. Then an assortment of things from my craft box and a glue gun, and an hour, it is here:

I used some craft wire to hang it in the foyer.  

Then we got this wooden angel from Homesense. We bought a strip of LED lights too. 

I put the lights on the angel. Now she resides on the kitchen windowsill, splashing cheerful light! Next to her, my oregano is thriving in a beer bottle (Kratki Hydroponics). 

I made paper butterflies and attached them to a string. That goes well with the angel and lights.

Art of Layers: My review of the book.

I got this book, "Art of Layers" from the Toronto Public Library. The author Ronda Palazzari is says she loves all kinds of crafts. 
A look inside the book will reveal her interest and love for crafting. She stitch on paper. She makes flower from ribbons. She use all those handcrafted things in scrapbooking to create memories and to decorate her home. 
It is fun to browse through the pages. I like the idea of stitched journaling. She loves using backstitching on her layered projects. That gives the neat look on the backside of the work too. I used to ignore the back side. Now, that is a point to remember. 
I have the idea of making ruched flower before. But, never thought of using that in mixed media projects. 
She made banners with stickers. Her "graduation cake", a cake made from styrofoam with banner on it is a great idea.  Palazzari described her techniques with a lot of pictures. 
She has a lot of products to make her art and craft, which I cannot get. But, with some substitutes and my own ideas, I can use some of her techniques to enhance my pieces. 
This book is good to read and take some mental notes. The book is an eye candy with lot of projects and pictures. Yet, I am not going to buy a copy for myself. For me, this is a book to read for one time. Then use techniques when needed. I don't want it as a reference book.
